Job Opening – Library Director

Lead a beloved community library in a thriving small town just five miles north of Normal. The library serves a population of 3,400 residents of Hudson and surrounding townships. The library is recognized for its friendly staff, supportive Library Board, and involved community. The next Director will be someone who continues to cultivate an inclusive culture that encourages, celebrates, and values the community.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop staff, improve technology, expand programming, strengthen community partnerships, pursue grants, and build the library’s long-term vison. The Director should exhibit effective communication skills and utmost respect for others that combines leadership with vision, collaboration, and dedication.

This is an opportunity for a community-minded library leader to make a visible difference. The Director will work closely with staff, Trustees, patrons, local organizations, and community leaders to shape the future of a library that is already highly valued.

This is a full-time, exempt, salaried position with flexible hours that will include occasional evenings and Saturdays as needed, as well as the ability to cover for sick or absent employees. View the full job description.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • At least two years of library experience
  • Supervisory experience
  • Strong written and verbal communication
  • Technology proficiency and willingness to learn new systems
  • Budgeting knowledge

Preferred Qualifications

  • MLIS degree
  • Public library director/management experience

Compensation and Benefits

  • Salary: $52,000-54,000 annually
