Libby App from OverDrive

Welcome to Libby, the one-tap reading app for borrowing digital titles from OverDrive. If you love the convenience of e-books and e-audio but want an easier way to search and download titles, you’re in luck. Libby is inspired by user and library feedback to be as simple and easy to use as possible!

Follow these four easy steps to get started.

1. Install the free Libby app from your device’s app store. Libby is available for Android, iOS, and Windows 10 devices.
2. Open the app and find Hudson Area Public Library District. You can search by library name, city, or zip code.
3. Browse our collection of digital materials and select a title to borrow. When prompted, use your library card number and PIN to sign in. Call the library for your PIN if you don’t know it.
4. Borrowed titles download automatically to your Shelf, so you can read them offline. From your Shelf, you can tap Start Reading or Start Listening to begin a title. Or tap the cover image and then tap Send to Device to send the title to Kindle.

Is Libby replacing the current OverDrive app?

No, Libby is not replacing the existing OverDrive app. If you’re happy with the current app, feel free to keep using it. If you’re new to digital materials or want a new reading experience, try Libby.

Can I use both Libby and the existing OverDrive app?

Yes, but we recommend selecting one or the other for the best user experience. The apps are not fully synced to each other yet.

What if I need more help with Libby?

Libby help is available at https://help.libbyapp.com and via the Tips & Secrets option in the app’s menu. You can also stop by the library in person for assistance.
