Hudson Christian Church then

The Hudson Christian Church began at the Oneida Schoolhouse north of Hudson. (The schoolhouse no longer exists). It was simply called ‘Oneida Congregation’ at the time. When the brethren and sisters met to unite in prayer, several others listened and accepted Christ as their savior. The converts of that revival were baptized in the Mackinaw River. Their names were enrolled with the charter members who claim to have organized the church in the year 1877.

In 1908, having outgrown the small schoolhouse, lots were acquired in the Village of Hudson from Mrs. Cora Gastman at the cost of $400. The following year ground was broken for the new church building. The Hudson Christian Church building was dedicated February 6, 1910.

In the 1920’s, with such a small group of members, the Christian Church congregation was forced to abandon services. The Ladies Aid Society continued, and through their efforts, the building was kept in repair and the bills paid. With the arrival of Rev. Merlin Stratton in 1957, the church again became active. Rev. Stratton remained minister of the church until his retirement.

The new addition and remodeling of the old Sunday School building took place in 2004.
