The first Town Hall in Hudson was not the building you are looking at now. In April 1888, voters at the annual town meeting voted to erect a Town Hall for the transaction of town business. This first town hall was on Franklin Street about where the township shed now stands. It is unclear when the building was constructed, but it apparently was not used as intended; meetings were held at the schoolhouse and various businesses.

However, at the town meeting on April 4, 1916, it was voted to build a new town hall, and $5,000 was appropriated by tax levy to purchase a site and build the hall. The ground was purchased from the Hudson Store Corporation for $200 in September 1916. The first annual meeting was held on April 13, 1917.

Early activities included basketball games, movies projected from the second floor, dances, medicine shows and a variety of meetings including 4-H, Home Bureau, and Village and Township meetings.

Over the years various improvements have been made to the building including such things as the addition of toilets, venetian blinds, fluorescent lights and the purchase of tables and dishes for use at dinners. In 1981, improvements included installation of Roman shades at all the windows, restroom remodeling for accessibility, and some changes in the kitchen area.

The building has remained a popular venue for club meetings. Various organizations have used the building for dinners and dances. Family reunions as well as the occasional wedding reception or shower have been held there. It has even been a marketplace where local vendors have gathered to sell their wares.
